What is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

What is a Vaginoplasty?
A vaginoplasty is a surgical procedure to tighten the vaginal muscles and the surrounding soft tissues by reducing the excess vaginal lining. The result is a decrease in the size of the vaginal muscles thereby helping with friction during sexual intercourse. Sexual activity can be restored 6-8 weeks after the procedure.

What is a Labiaplasty?
Some women may feel uncomfortable with enlarged labia minora. The condition can cause discomfort, particularly when wearing tight clothing, performing exercise and during sexual intercourse. Women with enlarged labia minora can feel embarrassed and self-conscious. It can be more prominent in women with slender frames and who are very conscious of their body image.

Are these procedures performed as outpatient surgery?
Yes. The procedure can be performed under general anesthesia in an outpatient facility.

What is the procedure like?
The surgery is relatively minor and with controlled discomfort. The procedure is normally performed under general anesthesia in an outpatient facility. Fine absorbable sutures are used so they dissolve quickly with minimal discomfort. Patients are sent home on antibiotics for 5 days. In most cases the area heals very well within 6-8 weeks and patients are pleased with the results. Patients are counseled and educated on what to expect including risk, benefits and options.

What are the risks?
Surgical risks such as infection, bleeding and scarring are few.

Is my privacy going to be respected?
Yes. All matters concerning this operation are dealt with in the strictest confidence.

How long does one have to wait to have sexual intercourse?
Sexual activity can be restored 6-8 weeks after the procedure.

Does insurance cover vaginal rejuvenation?
It is usually not covered by insurance since it is an elective procedure.

How much does it usually cost?
The range is $1,500 - $3000 for surgery only. This does not include anesthesia and facility fee.

What does an initial consultation cost?
The initial consultation is only a $100 charge that is deductible from the cost of the surgery. During this initial meeting we hope to educate, answer questions and dispel any anxieties that you might have.
